Haiphong is a port city east of Hanoi. The distance is about 100 km. I did not have a particular reason to visit Haiphong, but I wanted to explore Vietnam more by going outside the city boundary. web search revealed that there are two ways to travel between Hanoi and Haiphong: namely, by train or bus.
